Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Collegiate Recovery Specialist for Rutgers Student Health. This position reports directly to the Director of the ADAP Program, and is an essential member of the CAPS multidisciplinary mental health service.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Offers preventive education, assessment/evaluation, training and consultation, intervention, recovery support, program creation and implementation, case management and referral, and collaboration with other professionals and constituents to address recovery-specific and substance use related concerns with the Rutgers student population.
  • Coordinates and administers daily operations and outreach projects/programs for the Rutgers Recovery House.
  • Tracks and provides timely reports on Rutgers Recovery House events and programs.
  • Plans and implements and direct logistics related to signature Rutgers Recovery House events, like the Rutgers Spiritual Retreat and Rutgers Recovery Graduation.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology, or other relevant field.
  • Two (2) years of experience and demonstrated expertise working with emerging adults in recovery from substance-related disorders.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Must have or be working towards current State of New Jersey certification or licensure as a Certified Peer Recovery or Peer Support Specialist.
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience developing and conducting workshops that promote recovery from substance related-disorders.
  • Experience creating programming and trainings for student organizations around substance use and recovery.
  • Experience implementing research designs, analyzing data, and writing reports.
  • Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Suite of Office programs, use a cellphone (text and call), and some ability to use social media.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual ability.
  • Experience with severe and complex psychopathology.
  • Experience, familiarity with University mental health multi-disciplinary work.
