The Simulation Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of simulation activities for the nursing program. This role involves coordinating with faculty, maintaining simulation equipment, and ensuring the simulation environment supports the educational goals of the nursing school. The Simulation Coordinator plays a crucial role in enhancing the learning experience by integrating simulation-based training into the nursing curriculum.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Master of Science in Nursing

2. Active, unencumbered license as registered nurse in WV

3. BLS certification from American Heart Association (prior to students on campus)

EXPERIENCE:

1. Five (5) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse program

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Doctoral degree with a major in nursing, education, public health, administration, or other field related to assignment

2. American Heart Association BLS Instructor

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years of experience teaching in a registered nurse program academic advisement experience

2. Two (2) years of simulation experience

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Works collaboratively with subject matter experts to design, develop, and evaluate new simulation experiences, scenarios, simulation tools, and other educational activities, using multiple methodologies.

2. Collaborates with faculty to integrate simulation activities into courses and clinical training.

3. Develops and maintains simulation schedules to ensure efficient use of resources.

4. Maintains and troubleshoots simulation equipment, manikins, and technology.

5. Oversees all scheduling, set up, and supplies for the WVU Center of Nursing Education Skill and Simulation Labs.

6. Manages inventory of simulation supplies and order replacements as needed.

7. Provides training for faculty and students on the use of simulation equipment and best practices.

8. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of simulation activities.

9. Collects and analyzes feedback from students and faculty to improve simulation experiences.

10. Stays current with best practices and advancements in simulation technology and education.

11. Maintains accurate records of simulation activities, student performance, and equipment maintenance.

12. Develops and updates simulation policies and procedures.

13. Provide instruction to post-secondary potential and current nursing students each semester (up to 3 credit equivalent) in any assigned healthcare related field using face to face, online and hybrid modalities.

14. Communicates and collaborate with the Nursing Program Director regarding budget planning and resource allocation for simulation activities.

15. Maintains certification as a CPR instructor; assists in the certification of students in CPR and assists with the certification of hospital personnel as needed to maintain the instructor certification.

16. Engages in activities that contribute to the academic community and nursing profession.

17. Attend and participates in departmental meetings, training sessions, faculty training committee work, faculty and program committee meetings, and special events (such as but not limited to graduation, pinning, open houses)

18. Work collaboratively with other faculty to maintain quality of program and meet accreditation requirements.

19. Develop related instructional materials (such as syllabus, lecture course materials, evaluation tools, classroom activities, etc) based on best practices in nursing education and participates program-level planning and curriculum development as assigned

20. Evaluate student performance using varied evaluation methods and remediate students as needed.
