Maintenance Supervisor

Role Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor position provides maintenance leadership for food plant operations. Role responsibilities include safety, people leadership, cost management, and driving performance improvement following established continuous improvement processes. In this role, the maintenance supervisor leads a team of skilled maintenance mechanics.

Role Accountabilities

  • Identifies and addresses safety risks related to maintenance activities (standard and non-standard) and prioritizes safety related improvements across operations.
  • Manage daily scheduling and effective resource allocation/prioritization including labor, repair parts, and outside services for their line(s)
  • Build capability of the mechanics to understand their equipment at component level in addition to identifying and resolving defects and improving asset life.
  • Analysis of equipment performance and improving component life.
  • Manage work through Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Daily reporting and prioritization of defects found/ fixed as well as total work order backlog.
  • Track key maintenance metrics and leverage data to prioritize plant maintenance work.
  • Communicate and collaborate with operations, quality and safety teams to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Build capability in direct reports through effective communication, hiring, and training.
  • Develop and motivate team members to achieve maintenance plan goals
  • Work with direct manager to administer plant and company policies

Qualifications:

  • Two or Four year degree in engineering (mechanical), industrial engineering or technology, business operations management, or similar preferred but not required
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement initiatives or Lean Six Sigma preferred
  • 5+ years of operations maintenance experience preferred; 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred.

Salary Range



The salary range for this position is $68700.00 - $103200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
