The salary range for this position is $135,200-$161,100 (annual). Application Window Open date: September 5, 2024 Most recent review date: Friday, Nov 1, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Monday, Jun 30, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis is recruiting an Assistant Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics with a preferred emphasis in Econometrics. This is an academic year (9-month), tenure track Assistant Professor position. The appointee is expected to establish a research program in econometrics that is relevant to the department's disciplinary foci in the economics of agriculture, the environment and natural resources, and development. The appointee will be responsible for teaching in the undergraduate joint business major, managerial economics major and the econometrics sequences in the M.S. and Ph.D. programs. Teaching responsibilities will consist of two courses in the first year, three in the second year, and four per year thereafter. The courses to be taught by the appointee will be set by the department chair based upon departmental needs and the successful candidate's interests/expertise, such as ARE 106, 107, 136, 139, 171, 256A-B, 239, 240A-F. Other responsibilities include student advising at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Participation in and development of public outreach and/or community engagement programs, and performance of departmental and university service is expected. This recruitment is conducted at the assistant rank. The resulting hire will be at the assistant rank, regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications. Initial review of applications will be conducted using anonymized versions of the Statement of Research Accomplishments and Interests and the Statement of Contributions to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Full-time Equivalent (FTE) Availability of Space and Resources Office space will be provided by the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics in the Social Sciences and Humanities building on the UC Davis central campus. Faculty share administrative, accounting, and clerical staff. Ongoing instruction and research support is provided by a departmental computer facility, consisting of a local area network and centralized computing system, which augments the usual PC or Macintosh computing capabilities. Permanent Programmer/Analyst staff provides on-site assistance for most computing needs. Clerical support staff provides routine administrative services. Teaching Assistants and Readers are assigned to instructors with large-enrollment classes. It is current department policy to provide a base level of support allocation to each faculty member, which funds routine annual expenses including telephone tolls, copy services, computer/software enhancements, minimal travel expenses, and any other expenses deemed necessary to support the position. Start-up funding will be provided based on the programmatic needs of the successful candidate. * Ph.D. or equivalent in economics, agricultural economics, or a closely related discipline, including thorough training in econometrics and economic theory at the time of appointment. Preferred qualifications

* Demonstrated expertise and research interest in econometric theory and methods. * Potential to contribute to one of the three core fields in the Agricultural and Resource Economics department, Agricultural Economics, Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, and Development Economics. * Demonstrated or potential ability to develop a distinguished research program that results in publications in high-quality refereed journals. * Demonstrated ability or potential to develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses and to present information to scientific audiences. * Demonstrated ability or potential and interest to advise undergraduates in the joint business major and managerial economics major. * Demonstrated ability or potential and interest to mentor M.S. and Ph.D. students in the Agricultural and Resource Economics graduate program. * Interest, understanding, and commitment to contributing to diversity. * Demonstrated ability or potential and interest to work with peers in the department, on campus, and in Cooperative Extension to meet the mission of the University.
