Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for working closely with the closely with the Accounting Manager to ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Regulatory Accounting Principles and Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations. This position reconciles general ledger accounts, prepares journal entries, and posts intercompany transactions. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for complying with the Bank's established internal control over financial reporting ("ICFR") program, without exemption.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Assists in maintaining the overall integrity and accuracy of the accounting system.
  • Reconciling of various bank accounts/statements, other general ledger asset/liability accounts, and transactions posted by other departments.
  • Processes transactions in accordance with related GAAP, SEC requirements and applicable Banking laws and regulations.
  • Prepares and records journal entries for daily and month-end transactions.
  • Reports any identified material errors or suspicious activity.
  • Assist in daily cash management activities. - Manages fixed and prepaid assets.
  • Assists making proper payment and allocation of company-issued purchase and credit cards.
  • Researches and clears daily GL posting exceptions.
  • Process rent and lease payments.
  • Assists with the month-end closing process and prepares monthly and quarterly financial statements and regulatory reports as required by management and regulatory agencies in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manages branch and ATM cash activity, including cash courier activity, and posts and reconciles accounts timely.
  • Prepares daily liquidity report, FR 2900 Report, and other regulatory reports.
  • Assist in audits and examinations.
  • Performs special projects as assigned, including GAAP research, analysis, and implementation into all Accounting Department processes.
  • Cross-train on other positions in the Accounting Department as directed.
  • Serves as primary back-up for the Accounts Payable and Wire functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS



  • Prior Accounts Payable experience required.
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting concepts required.
  • 1+ years' experience in accounting/finance performing complex accounting processes and procedures, preferably in a banking environment is preferred.
  • Understanding of banking regulations and financial reporting preferred.
  • Experience with reconciling automated general ledger systems preferred.



A reasonable, good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum base salary or pay for this position is $24.53/hr. to $36.79/hr. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. A discretionary bonus and/or business line incentive may be provided, in addition to a medical and other benefits, dependent on the position.
