What does the job involve?

Senior Accountant is responsible for planning, organizing and assisting the operations and activities of inventory and accounting team with the day-to-day processes of the team as well as improving the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes, systems, and workflows while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

In addition to standard accounting expertise, the Senior Accountant will also possess strong analytical skills & attention to detail, be eager to tackle problems and tasks both big and small & will be a self-starter with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What will my responsibilities include?

Job Cost Reporting - analyze shipped and completed projects to ensure completeness and accuracy of material issues and other costing transactions. Research, analyze, and report job cost variances versus estimates. Explain and provide summaries in the ERP system in particular for Estimators review, improvements, and adjustments.

Inventory Management - obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of Raw Material and WIP and operational structure/systems. Lead team in cycle counts ensuring inventory accuracy. Manage Excess & Obsolete (E&O) inventory and E&O inventory utilization. Lead the yearly Physical Inventory, at two facilities, in full coordination and general ledger posting of the results. Review and coordinate internal indirect jobs. Perform yearly Inventory cost roll.

Back up All Positions - this individual should be capable of stepping into any role within the accounting department when needed. Whether it is handling accounts payable, receivable, or financial reporting, they will be prepared. Work with the team individually to establish goals and objectives for each year, advise, and enhance professional development.

Prepare Standby Letters of Credit for issuance to customers. Assist with Export Letters of Credit requirements for validity and presentation.

Participate in other finance and management projects.

Other duties as assigned.

What key key skills and experience do I need?



  1. Bachelor's Degree in accounting or a bachelor's degree in business with emphasis in accounting is required. Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment preparing financial statements with variance explanations and footnotes, timely preparation, of monthly reconciliations and variance analysis is preferred.
  2. Detail oriented with high level of attention to financial accuracy.
  3. Highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data as well as the use of Excel spreadsheets and other accounting software. Excel technical skills - Pivot tables, VLookup, etc Functional Skills. Experience with ERP systems and MS Office.

  1. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment that requires the management of multiple projects at one time.
  2. Good interpersonal skills, team-oriented positive attitude. Excellent writing and communication skills.
  3. Excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to complete a task or project, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
  4. Excellent professional demeanor and ability to collaborate with other departments
  5. Position requires work beyond a standard 8 hours day during the financial close and other occasions is necessary, potentially including weekends and holidays.
