Responsibilities

We are seeking a Spacecraft Communications Digital Equipment Technician to join our team at the Fort Irwin Complex in California to support our Space Communications Network Services Contract (DSN) with NASA.

The Deep Space Network is NASA's international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never-before-seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.

Responsibilities:

    The Digital technician will test, maintain, and modify GDSCC Tracking Station equipment related to Digital and Antenna Servo systems and subsystems. Such equipment includes, but is not limited to, commercial off the shelf general purpose computer systems and associated peripherals, special purpose digital computer devices, electronics associated with the control and monitoring of antenna servo systems, surveillance, and CCTV systems.
  • Implementation of Engineering Change Orders.
  • Troubleshoot and repair failures using sub-system documentation, drawings, and schematics.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance actions to ensure subsystem operation and performance within required standards.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 0-2 years of experience OR an Associate's Degree and 4 years of experience or High School Diploma/GED and 6 + years of directly related experience.
  • Two years of experience as an Electronic/Electro-mechanical, Linux Computer, PLC Controls, or IT Technician.
  • Can lift up to 50lbs.
  • Can climb antenna's up to 250ft. for antenna maintenance.
  • Possess a valid California drivers' license.
  • You are able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Can demonstrate high motivation and a great team attitude.
  • Have the ability and desire to work independently with minimal supervision.

The rate / range per hour below represents the typical pay for this position based on experience and other factors.
