Ryan Companies US, Inc. has an immediate career opportunity for an Estimator II to join our team in Atlanta!

To excel in this role, you should hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, and possess at least 3+ years of proven experience in the commercial construction sector, with a preference for backgrounds in industrial, healthcare, retail, office, senior living, and multi-family projects. Your primary responsibilities will include independently or collaboratively creating precise project estimates, managing scopes to adhere to budget goals, capturing cost history, and providing value analysis and preconstruction expertise. You will need to demonstrate proficiency in estimating and preconstruction support for projects ranging from $5M to over $100M. This involves developing and reviewing cost models, conducting training, performing value analysis, and executing quantity take-offs, all while focusing on detailed cost information.

You will report to the VP of Preconstruction or Estimating Executive and work closely with project managers. Your role will also involve direct engagement with owners, designers, subcontractors, developers, marketing teams, and the construction management team.

Some things you can expect to do:

  • Efficiently and self-sufficiently:
  • Work with project managers to develop conceptual and detailed estimates.
  • Perform quantity take-offs of all construction systems.
  • Create project estimates individually and with a team.
  • Solicit subcontractor pricing for budgeting and bid proposals.
  • Scope and select subcontractors based on best value and project requirements.
  • Record final estimates and maintain cost history.
  • Create, track, and manage project scope.
  • Participate and review buyout and GMP estimates.
  • Assist in creating preconstruction schedules with project management and field personal.
  • Support the development, architectural, and construction teams with preconstruction expertise including value design, costs, procurement, and project pursuits.
  • Train Cost Engineers and Project Management staff.
  • Consistently achieve customer satisfaction and established project goals.
  • Review and provide feedback on project estimates created by the project managers.
  • Provide direction for understanding project scope, market pricing, and available resources.
  • Assist clients and developers with conceptual budgets, capable of creating cost modeling using Uniformat II system costs.

  • Knowledge of construction means and methods and able to read and understand project plans.
  • Proficiency with CSI and Uniformat II work breakdown structures.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Destini Estimating platform, OST, Bluebeam, VICO, Navisworks, and Revit a plus.
  • Able to perform thoughtful and accurate quantity take offs, and summarize data in a meaningful way.
  • Knowledge of design-build, CM at Risk, and best-value processes.
  • Positive and effective communication abilities.
  • Able to teach skills and knowledge to others.
  • Knowledge of construction means and methods, building types, and procurement methods.

  • Background Experiences
  • 4 year construction management /engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in relevant field.
  • 6-10 years commercial construction experience.

  • Positions require verification of employment eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Compensation:

The annual base pay is $91,900.00- $114,8500.00. The base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
