Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking a full-time Survey Project Manager for our Charlotte, NC office. The Survey Project Manager will manage all survey activities related to conventional, GPS and Laser Scanning surveys and be responsible for project management on all survey projects. The most frequent and essential work activities include:

    Research survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
  • Supervise various disciplines on the project team, coordinating efforts, mediating disagreements, and making decisions which reflect the best interest of both the company and its clients.
  • Determine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control and the collection of survey data.
  • Maintain accurate notes, records and sketches to describe and certify work performance.
  • Coordinate findings of work with engineering and architectural personnel, clients and other concerned with project.
  • Meet the requirements set forth by the client.
  • Confer with client, obtaining timely decisions and approvals to ensure the project flows smoothly, monitoring any changes in established budget or contract.
  • Ensure the successful and accurate completion of the field portion of projects.
  • Train and instruct field crew on proper use and care of equipment.
  • Responsible for job specific quality system tasks as defined in quality manual.
  • Process field crew survey data.
  • Create stakeout data for construction layout.
  • Maintain project point database files.
  • Prepare base survey mapping.
  • Assume legal responsibility for work.
  • Develop client and professional networks through professional associations, committees and business associations and promotes the professional standing of the firm through those networks.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Survey Group Manager.


Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in surveying technology, geomatics, civil engineering or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 6+ years survey related work experience
  • 1+ years of project management experience
  • Previous experience with NCDOT projects a plus
  • Knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD & OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
  • Knowledge of COGO software
  • Knowledge of NCDOT Plan Development Process a plus
  • Familiar with ALTA surveys and ASCM Standards
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Office
  • Intermediate level Adobe
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license prior to employment

  • Work will primarily be in the office setting with limited opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

  • Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
  • Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
