Essential Job Duties |
We are seeking a skilled plumbing professional experienced in the maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing systems to join our team. As the
Plumber II, you will work closely within our trade shop to ensure quality plumbing services are provided to
NC State's infrastructure. In addition to plumbing responsibilities, you will also manage
secondary electrical systems and equipment related to
HVAC. If you are passionate about

Key responsibilities and duties include, but not limited to:
- Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing, air, gas, water, and waste disposal systems
Repair and maintain drainage, sewer, air, gas, and water systems in buildings- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and associated fixtures
- Conduct journey-level work in installing and maintaining secondary electrical systems and equipment while also analyzing and correcting faults in secondary electrical systems and control circuits
Diagnose and repair boilers, fan turbines, pumps, steam lines, and related equipment- Develop solutions for plumbing, steam, electrical, and HVAC issues
- Demonstrate proper isolation and lock-out procedures for systems
- Assess and recommend solutions for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues
- Increase trade knowledge through training and teamwork
- Apply knowledge of Federal and North Carolina safety policies and procedures
- Address safety concerns promptly and ensure proper training and PPE usage

Other Responsibilities |
- This position has been designated as essential personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule.
- This position may assist with snow and ice removal under the direction of a supervisor.
- Must participate in quarterly on-call program, carrying a pager for one week at a time. This occurs every ten to fourteen weeks.
- Must be able to work overtime and/or alternate shifts when necessary for emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification(s).
Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. |
Other Required Qualifications |
- Demonstrates a solid working knowledge of correct system operations for plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public and understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications |
- NC plumbing license or reciprocal; or local jurisdiction Journeyman plumber certification.
CFC certification.
