Position Detail:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team for this remote role.

Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Financial Analyst is an integral leader for a subset of renewable energy projects within the FirstLight portfolio, providing financial support to business planning and decision making. Will be responsible for forecasting future financial performance, maintaining financial models/tools, cost management, scenario analysis, and valuation. The Senior Financial Analyst is also responsible for analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and providing insights and recommendations to colleagues at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:



  • Develop financial models and scenarios to support ad-hoc business analysis, monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and annual valuations;
  • Collaborate across the organization to develop, vet, and model planning assumptions;
  • Develop executive-level presentations to facilitate the review of key business drivers and assumptions;
  • Assist in cost management and cost re-forecasting. Liaise with cost managers to help track and deliver on cost control objectives;
  • Analyze financial data, conduct variance analysis, and provide actionable insights that help create transparency into financial performance and drive decision making;
  • Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and recommendations;
  • Monitor and track financial performance against KPIs and identify areas for improvement. Maintain a strong understanding of business trends;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement financial strategies and initiatives;
  • Drive efficiencies in the analysis, planning, and reporting processes by leveraging financial systems/technologies and developing tools;
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned;
  • Comply with all FirstLight policies and procedures.


Job Qualifications / Skills


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required;
  • 5+ years of related experience in finance with progressive responsibilities, preferably in the power industry;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex financial data into actionable insights;
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, with advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., advanced formulas, Pivot Tables, Power Query);
  • Experience with developing, maintaining, and improving advanced financial models, required;
  • Experience with financial accounting systems is required (e.g., Netsuite, SAP);
  • Experience with forecasting software, preferred (e.g., Netsuite Planning & Budgeting, Adaptive Insights, Anaplan);
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders;
  • Experience with discounted cash flow valuation is required. Knowledgeable of valuation principles;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
  • Adapt quickly to changing environment and business needs;
  • Proven track record of delivering results and driving business impact;
  • Ability to travel within the US and Canada as required, approximately 15%.
