Position Summary

The University Of New Mexico College Of Nursing (CON) is seeking a Program Coordinator for Clinical Placements that is goal-oriented, resourceful, and self-motivated. The Program Coordinator will support the clinical placement needs of undergraduate and graduate nursing learners. This position is essential to helping advance the CON's mission of improving access to healthcare for all New Mexicans. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills for clinical placements, internal and external outreach to community partners and data analysis and reporting. Must be detail orientated and have the ability to maintain confidentiality while working closely with students, faculty and community clinical partners.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain student files, clinical evaluations, professional documentation, and other pertinent clinical documents for all student cohorts including immunization records and necessary certifications
  • Maintain clinical preceptor, instructor, and clinical site evaluations
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners regarding student clinical placements
  • Plan and coordinate student and faculty credentialing for clinical sites
  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Experience in or with:

o working in a health-related and/or academic environment.

o credentialing students and/or confidential record tracking

o working with credentialing software and/or databases such as Excel

o working with Microsoft 365 and Adobe
