POSITION SUMMARY: The Research Assistant is responsible for maintaining the Clinical Database System (CDS), conducting basic statistical analyses, tracking clients, and conducting client follow-up assessments. Essential Job Functions include those listed below. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Serves as a member of the Research and Evaluation Team.
- Scores assessment instruments and develops and enters data into statistical databases.
- Enters results of all evaluation tools in the Clinical Database System (CDS).
- Monitors quantitative and qualitative data collection processes and coordinates the compilation and management of data.
- Maintains a tracking and follow-up log for all clients.
- Conducts basic statistical analyses and assists with quarterly and biannual progress reports.
- Engages and builds rapport with all clients to assist with follow-up and administers Client Perception Surveys.
- Conducts chart audits for evaluation purposes and client and staff focus groups.
- Maintains Research and Evaluation files for each client.
- Produces reports for the Program Director and Director of Research and Evaluation as needed.
- Provides feedback to the Program Director and Director of Research and Evaluation regarding attainment of goals and objectives as well as data collection.
- Assists area and programmatic leadership in Performance Improvement activities.
- Assists other WestCare staff as needed to promote cooperation and portray a professional image to the community.
- Embraces and embodies the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
- Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain and maintain WestCare's vehicle insurance is required.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or related human services or behavior health field is preferred.
- Master's degree in public health or psychology graduates or candidates will be given preference.
EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
- At least one (1) year of experience in a comparable role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Office.
- Familiarity with and knowledge of data collection tools (e.g., standardized instruments, surveys, information obtained from databases, etc.).
- Ability to create databases in Excel, SPSS, etc.
- Basic understanding of statistical data and the construction of variables.
- Familiarity with basic graphic programs such as Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Ability to interpret basic statistics.
- Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to organize, handle multiple responsibilities, and prioritize appropriately.
- Ability to communicate accurately and responsibly with internal and external teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in a manner that is pleasant and professional.
- Ability to work well, both individually and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is primarily performed in an office or indoor setting.
- Some activities with travel will be required to schools and local justice centers.
- Some travel will be required to trainings and conferences.
- Regular and prompt attendance is required throughout employment.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB The employee must be able to perform the following essential duties and activities with or without accommodation: PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. Use of computer and telephone systems is required which includes coordination of eye and hand, and proper utilization by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files).
- Requires talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is required to impart oral information to employees, the public, and in those activities in which the employee is required to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or promptly.
- Requires hearing: Hearing is required to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communication.
- Requires seeing: Clarity of vision including proper eyewear at 20 inches or less and at distance.
- The normal work routine involves the possible exposure to human blood, body fluids or tissues. However, exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be readily available to every employee.
MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Requires the ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions.
- Requires the ability to work and cooperate with co-workers, managers, and the public at all levels to exchange ideas, information, instructions, and opinions.
