As aMonitoring Technician, you willmonitorpatients'electrocardiographic and other basic physiologic/hemodynamic parameters in the Department of Cardiology and/or nursing units. Reports, documents heart rhythm changes and performs related maintenance and patientassistanceactivities.

Primary Duties:

  • Observes patient electrocardiographic and other basic/hemodynamic parameters.Set-up telemetry units for new admissions from the Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, Operating Room, etc. Registers pertinent informationinthe computer.

  • Reports unusual baseline readings and/or patient heart rhythm variations toappropriate medical/nursingstaff members. Documentsmonitoringinformation/variations for each assigned patient and shiftobserved. Completes written summary shift report and distributes, asappropriate.

  • Places and removes monitor on patient and setsappropriate alarmparameters in the computer.Assistswith the patient billing process by providingappropriate documentationand admits/discharges patient in the computer system, asappropriate.

  • Performs 12 leadEKGson admission of patient and/or STAT.Maintainsmonitoring equipment, such as changing batteries, cleaning electrodes, etc. Interacts with Biomedical Department related to system/equipment problems.

  • Monitors supply inventory levels andreplacesupplies,e.g.,EKG paper, cables, alcohol prep, etc. Reviews stored information and clears/updates patient historical information, asappropriate.Ensures that the work environment is always clean and organized.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Mayrequireup to 1 year of technical or other specialized training, such as in anatomy, physiology, and electrocardiographic interpretation.

  • 6 to 12months'experience.

  • BLS (Basic Life Support).

This position has a hiring range of $20.039 - $30.385
