Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Electrical Superintendent for our plywood mill in Madison, GA. The Electrical Superintendent will manage the plant electrical production function. This position is responsible for managing an Electrical Supervisor, Electrical Planner and electrical staff personnel, in a way that supports/enhances Principled Based Management, fosters teamwork and produces results.

The Electrical Superintendent will assist in leading the Electrical team. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven individual with a passion for excellence in safety, manufacturing, and customer focus. This position will drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability. This position will work to proactively identify hazards and implement appropriate mitigating strategies based on the risks involved while monitoring the quality of work and providing guidance to the electrical team. This role will provide critical input to the management team and influence others, positively impacting the organization. This position reports to the Facility Maintenance Manager.

What You Will Do

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of salaried and hourly associates in the Electrical Department.
  • Plan and assign daily work tasks to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all electrical systems and equipment within the facility.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide timely solutions.
  • Work with Project Leaders to manage the installation of new electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure all installations comply with electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Prepare and manage the electrical maintenance budget.
  • Optimize resource utilization to control costs and improve efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Implement best practices for electrical maintenance and reliability.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support overall facility performance.
  • Operate within a manufacturing plant environment, which may involve prolonged exposure to high noise levels, dust, and areas that are not climate controlled.
  • Routinely utilize Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or other similar problem-solving tools for troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Five (5) or more years of electrical experience in a heavy industrial setting
  • Two (2) or more years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or military environment
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including PLCs, motors, drives, and control systems.
  • Working knowledge and experience with MS Word and Excel, and other PC-based production and maintenance reporting applications
  • Experience routinely utilizing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or other similar problem-solving tools
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). (MP2, ActivPlant, SAP, etc)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Associates degree or higher in related technical field
  • Previous experience in a wood products manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Supervisor.
  • Experience with power distribution, Allen Bradley PLC (studio 5000), Powerflex drive, HMI, and Robotics.
