Clark College is currently accepting applications for the position of IT Security - Journey to join the Information Technology department. This is a full-time permanent classified position.

The IT Security - Journey performs two core functions for the enterprise. The first is the day-to-day operations of the in-place security solutions while the second is the identification, investigation and resolution of security breaches detected by those systems. Secondary tasks may include involvement in the implementation of new security solutions, participation in the creation and/or maintenance of policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures as well as conducting vulnerability audits and assessments. The IT Security Analyst is expected to be fully aware of the enterprise's security goals as established by its stated policies, procedures and guidelines and to actively work towards upholding those goals.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Strategy & Planning

* Participate in the planning and design of enterprise security architecture, under the direction of the IT Security Manager/CISO, where appropriate.

* Participate in the creation of enterprise security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures) under the direction of the IT Security Manager/CISO, where appropriate.

* Participate in the planning and design of an enterprise Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan, under the direction of the IT Security Manager/CISO, where appropriate.

* Maintain compliance with State and Federal requirements such as: HIPPA, FERPA, GLBA, PCI, and WA State OCIO policies.

Acquisition & Deployment

* Maintain up-to-date detailed knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.

* Recommend additional security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall enterprise security.

* Perform the deployment, integration and initial configuration of all new security solutions and of any enhancements to existing security solutions in accordance with standard best operating procedures generically and the enterprise's security documents specifically.

Operational Management

* Maintain up-to-date baselines for the secure configuration and operations of all in-place devices, whether they be under direct control (i.e., security tools) or not (i.e., workstations, servers, network devices, etc.).

* Maintain operational configurations of all in-place security solutions as per the established baselines.

* Monitor all in-place security solutions for efficient and appropriate operations.

* Review logs and reports of all in-place devices, whether they be under direct control (i.e., security tools) or not (i.e., workstations, servers, network devices, etc.). Interpret the implications of that activity and devise plans for appropriate resolution.

* Participate in investigations into problematic activity.

* Participate in the design and execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits.

* Provide on-call support for end users for all in-place security solutions.



Qualifications


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science AND two (2) years of equivalent work experience in a related field.
  • One or more of the following certifications:

    • CISSP
    • GIAC
    • CEH
    • ITMS (Information Technology Security Manager) or CISM


  • Ability to conduct research into IT security issues and products.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Vaccination requirement: Per Washington State Proclamation 21-14.1: college employees must be fully vaccinated. Your COVID-19 vaccine status must be validated by the Human Resources office prior to the commencement of work. JOB READINESS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.
  • This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
