FI's Senior Consultant Quantitative Modeler role encompasses the methodologies, tools, and approaches that transform client data into an asset. As a valued colleague on our team, you will apply extensive knowledge, advanced techniques and theory to provide expert advice to, and lead team in, analyzing market, government, and business data in conjunction with monitoring and interpreting economic trends. In this role, you will forecast economic (and other) variables relevant to our clients, market participants, and policy makers.

You will conduct and review research to understand important issues in the mortgage finance business, including mortgage products, securities, borrower and lender behavior, housing prices and interest rate, as well as coordinate team efforts to present findings and recommendations through reports, research papers, and presentations to advise internal and external business partners, policy makers or other audiences.
Responsibilities
  • Support the development and ongoing improvement of mortgage forecasts, indices, and business scenarios to provide business insights relevant to our clients, policymakers, and the mortgage industry.
  • Collaborate within research teams and with Model Risk functions to ensure our models are accurate, of the highest operational quality, and in compliance with all applicable regulations and rules.
  • Support model compliance activities by producing the established model documentation and tracking and reporting on model and forecast performance.
  • Working with other members of the team and model risk functions, support the embedding of model risk controls into our processes.
Required experiences
  • 5+ years of related professional experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or similar fields
  • Demonstrated experience in economic analysis modeling and forecasting, working with both technical and non-technical partners
  • Demonstrated ability to perform quantitative analysis utilizing computation packages such as Python (numpy and pandas), R and SAS
  • Knowledge of relational Databases/SQL
  • Demonstrated experience in financial services/banking industry, including awareness or experience of standard model management processes; mortgage industry preferred
Preferred experiences
  • Analytic engineering mindset with experiences in GenAI, Git/Version Control, JIRA and SDLC
  • Experience with Cloud-based data analytics
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously to meet outcomes within desired timelines
Skills:
  • Experience in data analysis or related projects
  • Skilled at executing workstreams and projects to ensure successful and timely project completion
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to explain results to a broad audience
  • Relationship management including engaging stakeholders, partners, customers, and vendors, and building relationship networks
  • Influencing including negotiating, persuading others, and resolving conflict
  • Working with people with different functional expertise and backgrounds respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal
  • Knowledge of economics, statistics and data analysis
  • Technical ability with statistical software packages including coding, debugging, modeling and economic analysis with relevant programming languages (Python, R, SAS, SQL, etc...)
  • Expertise in visualizing data, including experience with Excel, Tableau, R Shiny or similar to identify, summarize and explain observed data patterns
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct analysis to address complex economic or business problems
