Local Truck Driver - CDL (Part-Time)

Wagner Logistics, a Top 50 Third Party Logistics company began business in 1946. We provide supply chain services including distribution center management, warehousing, transportation, order fulfillment, product assembly, and packaging for our 22 locations across 14 states. Total in over 6 million square feet of warehouse space. We are currently looking for a Local Truck Driver(Part-Time) for our Clinton, IA facility. This position will report directly to the Warehouse Manager and will work the following shift of Monday through Friday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Safely operate truck and trailer units in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and company standards and regulations
  • Transport and deliver goods/products by the schedule as determined by the Warehouse & Transportation Manager
  • Perform and monitor pre-operation and post-operation inspection of the tractor to ensure the equipment is in safe operating condition and submit reports indicating truck condition
  • Responsible for reporting any delays in the transportation of loads
  • Safely drop trailers and delegate proper drop locations as directed by Warehouse Leadership
  • Complete and monitor daily yard checks
  • Check empty trailers and containers for defects and ensure cleanliness
  • Responsible for reporting any equipment defects to Warehouse Leadership immediately and arranging for repair as needed
  • Properly secure loads and ensure loads are within regulated weight limits
  • Ensure good customer relations by consistently delivering orders on time and acting in a courteous and professional manner
  • Attach drive unit to trailers or containers to safely move to and from dock doors for loading and unloading
  • Block each trailer placed into the dock
  • Maintain an understanding and compliance with the company safety rules as related to drivers and yard spotters and enforce/ensure these rules are being followed
  • Assist Warehouse Associates with unloading and loading freight as needed
  • Verify count and condition of goods loaded and unloaded and make reports of overages, shortages, and damage as needed
  • Be vigilant and report any suspicious visitors or activity on the premises to Warehouse Leadership



QUALIFICATIONS:


  1. Education - High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  2. Experience - minimum of 2 years experience operating a truck and trailer
  3. Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

    • Must be able to read, write, and understand basic English
    • Basic math, counting, and computer abilities
    • Strong communication, leadership, and professional skills to promote teamwork with warehouse and transportation staff
    • Demonstrate initiative, self-starter, reliability, follow and teamwork skills
    • Microsoft Office Skills
    • An innate sense of direction
    • Ability to stay alert and focused while transporting loads


  4. Certifications & Special Requirements:

    • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
    • Current DOT physical
    • Clean driving record with no moving violations
    • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen





PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:


  • Ability to stand, sit, squat, crawl, bend, twist, and/or kneel for up to 12-hour periods and repetitively
  • Work near or on top of sloping, uneven, and/or slippery surfaces
  • Exposure to varying temperatures: heat, cold, wet, damp, drafty
  • Possible exposure to areas with high noise levels that may require hearing protection
  • Use hands and fingers to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights
  • Utilize muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects
