A top 50-public university and leading R2 institution, Rutgers University-Camden, seeks an inclusive, collaborative, and strategic leader to serve as the Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communications. Reporting to Chancellor Antonio D. Tillis, the Vice Chancellor will lead the Office of Marketing and Communications to new heights by developing a comprehensive institution-wide vision and plan that will increase the strength, reputation, and reach of the Rutgers-Camden brand while effectively promoting the Chancellor's strategic initiatives.

The Vice Chancellor will serve the marketing, communications, and public affairs needs of Rutgers-Camden, with responsibility for internal and external communications and marketing. To this end, a key priority for the Vice Chancellor is to align university resources and communications strategies to support the university's strategic objectives at the international, national, state, and local levels. The Vice Chancellor will integrate communications, strategic messaging, and outreach to elevate the university's reputation and presence across all key constituencies, including the media, alumni, donors, policymakers, opinion leaders, community-based organizations, and the business community.

The Vice Chancellor must be a media-savvy strategic marketing and communications professional. This candidate will have a demonstrated record leading an innovative, proactive, and effective communications and marketing division that has advanced an organization's brand and position of similar size and complexity to Rutgers-Camden. The Vice Chancellor will have a thorough knowledge of marketing and communications best practices, brand and reputation management, public relations, crisis communications, creative development, and new program marketing. The ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences with proven success in developing traditional and digital multi-channel/multi-segmented messaging is essential.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field and at least 7 to 10 years of experience in a related role. An advanced degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field is preferred. Experience in higher education environment is strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in progressively more responsible roles of leadership is preferred.

  • Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging industry requirements and practices in marketing

  • Knowledge and experience in traditional as well as digital and social marketing media.
  • Management experience in fiscal and organizational management, research, and customer service.

  • The ability to develop and implement strategic communications and research-based marketing plans.

Immunization Requirements
