Overview

The ECMH Classroom Group Therapist delivers therapeutic groups for children (ages 3-5) in a preschool day treatment classroom. The therapist works as part of an interdisciplinary team (behavioral health, education, psychiatry, psychology, speech and OT) and provides clinical guidance while partnering with teaching team to enhance and maximize learning experiences.

Expected Shift:

Monday - Thursday 8am - 4:30pm/Friday 8am - 2pm

Responsibilities

* Facilitates daily therapeutic groups in preschool day treatment classroom
* Provides behavioral health guidance for classroom staff
* Partners with classroom teacher to create and co-facilitate lesson plans
* Develops individual classroom treatment goals in coordination with integrated care team
* Effectively coordinates client care with other service providers and community resources to assure continuity of care.
* Incorporates trauma-informed care philosophy, practices and strategies in all activities.
* Employs strategies of intervention that are consistent with empirically supported treatments and consistent with program expectations.
* Ensures proper and timely completion of clinical documentation, program statistics, outcome data, and other related administrative paperwork in accordance with policy standards.



Qualifications

Education: Masters or doctoral degree from an accredited university or professional school of Counseling, Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy.

Licensure: Appropriate Ohio licensure in mental health (i.e., LSW, LPC, or LMFT). Active Ohio driver's license with proof of auto insurance required.

Skills:
* Understand and embrace a trauma-informed, multidisciplinary approach for working with young children, families and other caregivers and staff
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, families, peers and community representatives
* Ability to work with the hospital's electronic medical records system and other data and scheduling systems
* Ability to work and flexibly problem-solve; ability to adapt to change positively in work-flow and process
* The ability to get on the floor and engage in play activities with children
* Comprehensive knowledge of child growth and development and family systems which impact on the development of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Experience:
* Minimum one-year post-Master's experience, with clinical experience working with Early Childhood Populations
* Demonstrated skills and abilities in providing mental health services to families and/or children in a classroom/milieu setting
* Familiarity with classroom-based mental health consultation in early care and education settings such as Early Head Start, Head Start, and other community preschool programs
* Training in early childhood and related evidence-based treatment models such as Triple P, Incredible Years, PCIT, Child-Parent Psychotherapy preferred. Training/experience in trauma treatment or trauma-informed practices preferred.
* Experience serving at-risk populations and demographically diverse communities preferred.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Occasionally: Reaching above shoulder, driving motor vehicles, lifting/carrying up to 40lbs, pushing/pulling 25lbs. May come into contact with: Blood and/or Bodily Fluids, Communicable Diseases and/or Pathogens, Working Outdoors, Hot and Cold Temperatures

Frequently: Bend/twist, Squat/kneel, Standing, Walking

Continuously: Sitting, Flexing/extending of neck, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Repetitive hand/arm use, Computer skills, Audible speech, Hearing acuity, Peripheral vision, Seeing - Far/near, Problem solving, Decision Making, Interpreting Data, Requires focus and attention to detail while multi-tasking, Able to perform effectively during stressful situations
