Jefferson Science Associates is hiring2 Technical Student Interns.
This is a year-round position for full time undergraduatestudents available to work part-time during fall and spring semesters and full-time during summer semesters.

What your job will be like:
Are you a full-timeundergrad student seeking to jump-start your career?The Computational Sciences and Technology (CST) Division at Jefferson Lab is seekingtwo Technical Student Interns to work with the User Services/Help Desk Group within the Computing and Networking Infrastructure (CNI) Department to provide end-user computing support.

In this role you will:


    • Providedesktopsupport for Windows, Macintosh OS X, and various releases of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
    • Build desktop systems and install desktop applications.
    • Document the resolution of IT problems, maintain on-line end-user documentation and document Help Desk procedures/processes.
    • Provide support for other groups within the CNI Department and the CST Division with their projects as needed.

        Qualifications We Require:

        Education:


        • Applicant must be enrolled in a local university as a full-time undergrad college student with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Enrollment in a computer-related major preferred.Proof of full-time status and copies of transcripts are required prior to theinterview(unofficial copies are acceptable).

              Experience:


              • No experience required.

              Other:


              • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
              • Must be available to work a minimum of 18 hours per week, with the maximum being 20 hours per week during school sessions, and 40 hours per week between school sessions (spring break, summer break, and winter break).

              Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:


                • Possess a working knowledge of the Windows operating system.
                • Possess a working knowledge of the Linux and Mac OS Xoperating systems.
                • Possess a working knowledge of local area networking and TCP/IP.
                • Possess good customer service skills.
                • Excellent communication skills with both writing and in speech.
                • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions, and to follow established computing policies.

                Qualifications We Desire:


                • A demonstrated experience in computer support is considered a plus in the evaluation of candidates.
