Shockwave Medical, Inc. is a pioneer in the development and commercialization of Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) to treat complex calcified cardiovascular disease. Position Overview
Reporting to the Sr Director of Operational Excellence, the Director of Digital Strategy is responsible for the development, evaluation, and execution of the strategic direction for Shockwave Medical digital strategy by leading and delivering digital transformation for the Global Operations. This role will drive the development and execution of our digital vision, prioritized initiatives and deliver purposeful innovation insights and business analytics tools, techniques and processes - leading the execution plan to deliver both near and long-term milestones for Shockwave Operations.
In addition, the Director of Digital Strategy will be responsible for leading the advancement of the key elements of our Global Operating model: business processes, governance, and organization. The Director will also be accountable for leading the organization through change, driving effective communication and alignment to the strategy throughout Global Operations, leveraging change management and communication resources.
Essential Job Functions
Digital Strategy:
- Development, evaluation, and execution of the strategic direction for Shockwave digital strategy.
- Create and mature advanced data analytics capabilities for Global and Regional Operations, in partnership with Global and Regional Teams.
- Align the Shockwave digital strategy with JJSC to accelerate our ability to serve customers.
- Develop and implement new innovative insights and business analytics tools, techniques and processes.
- Shape digital strategy, in partnership with the Information Technology, Commercial and R&D teams, 3rd party data acquisition, delivery and usage.
- Connect with Manufacturing for the Future and collaborate to drive business case acceleration.
Connect:
- Interact with all functions driving the End to End Global Operation digital strategy considering all data needs.
Deliver Digital & Advanced Analytics Capabilities:
- Lead business experts, analyze the end-to-end value chain, identify digital business improvement and external customer opportunities, break-down into manageable components that can be solved by employing digital capabilities including visualization and analytics.
- Identify insights and work with stakeholders to achieve business improvements.
- Drive improvement in data-driven decision making including but not limited to: aligning data and data systems to meet the needs of the Global Operations with an end-to-end focus.
- Diagnose data requirements and roadmap prior to digital project launch, ensuring correct processes are put in place to improve and maintain, including the identification of business owners for data domains for long-term sustainability.
- Outline process for ad-hoc data extraction from source systems if not in data warehouse.
- Assess technologies for applications.
- Serve as a global expert on maximizing business impact through data
- Leverage Advanced Analytics and collaborate with Planning function to optimize processes in Planning such as:
- Improve demand forecast accuracy. Analytics across historical plan / actual launch curves and current launch parameters to improve demand forecast
- Achieve SLOB/Stockout Reduction via network modeling & alerting
Requirements
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree required; Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Data Science or related field highly preferred; Advanced degree such as a M.S. or MBA preferred
- A minimum of 15 years of related experience required; or 12 years with with Master's degree
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to lead a cross-functional global teams required
- Ability to develop individuals within an organization is required
- Project management experience required
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain, operations and data sources available with a proven track record of developing and successfully implementing data strategy and using multiple data sources for achieving business objectives is required.
- Advanced knowledge of end to end product supply and distribution, and MRP/ERP systems required
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in bridging technical and business disciplines, evaluating and determining appropriate risks required
- Lean manufacturing and six-sigma methodology experience preferred
- Product cost management and budget management preferred
- Proficient in English, Spanish a plus.
- Travel up to 20%, or up to 50% if remote / hybrid.

San Francisco Bay Area (SFBA) Market Range: $193,000 - $241,000
All Other US Locations (Outside of SFBA): $164,000 - $205,000
