Dematic is looking for an Engineering Manager to fill an important role within the Product Development (PD) group of Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) at Dematic. We develop mechatronic products and subsystems used in our warehouse automation systems and solutions globally. The Engineering Manager leads a team of Product Development Engineers to develop new, reliable, and cost-effective quality products that meet requirements in a timely manner. The products are related to Conveyor and other material handling Systems used globally in our projects. What we offer:

    The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $104,250-$152,900 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

This is What You Will do in This Role:

  • Lead, manage and coach a team of Development Engineers to deliver material handling products to internal and external customers/key stakeholders to drive value in product design. Design criteria includes ease of application, installation, functionality, commissioning, reliability, safety, and maintenance.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of strategic and tactical plans to achieve on-time delivery of products through resource management, including outside contractors as needed.

  • Build international partnerships to extend consistent standards and deliver with excellence to support Dematic's strategic vision, growth, and stability.

  • Create and maintain a feedback loop for customers at all levels to ensure day to day job tasks are meeting expectations.

  • Build team culture of trust, encouragement, accountability, collaboration, and excellence.

  • Practice leadership, actively participate in R&D Engineering management meetings, contribute to continuous improvement mindset with input and actions, take initiative to make things better, driving continuous improvement and lean initiatives.

  • Enrich internal and external cross-functional partnerships across all levels of Dematic and KION, as appropriate, to bolster team visibility, accountability, and positive impact on the organization.

Project/Product Delivery:

  • Responsible for ensuring that their team's product execution is on schedule and on budget, following all the designated processes to ensure timely delivery of assigned, quality products that meet specified requirements.

  • Monthly evaluation and weekly reporting of product development status.

  • Accurate monthly forecasting of resources and timelines. Periodic estimation of new development asks.

  • Ensure teams keep accurate, thorough project records in specified locations and MS Project Schedules and that tasks are updated weekly.

  • Build engineering capabilities and team success by identifying skills, assigning appropriate work, and work opportunities/trainings for engineer's skill improvement.

  • Maintain safety & compliance standards and communication.

  • Proactively drive capacity planning through innovative work assignment and collaboration with other managers.

  • Encourage innovation, continuous improvement and position your team as technical leaders for assigned products.

  • Provide thorough, timely escalation of issues to manager with background information and details needed along with possible impact assessments and suggested next steps, to facilitate quick action.

  • Resolve issues or conflicts in a timely, appropriate manner.

Financial Responsibility:

  • Awareness of budget plan and ensuring that daily management decision is aligned (training hours, OT, indirect vs direct), proactive management.

  • Awareness of Strategic Plans and their team's responsibility for achieving those goals.

  • Managing Team and Individual expenses to budgets.

  • Approve team timesheets, travel requests and expense reports in a timely, accurate manner.

  • Manage projects and workload to product budgets, resources, and timelines. Practice active opportunity tracking and risk mitigation.

Strategic and Tactical Initiatives/Projects:

  • Driving improvements for the greater of larger department from strategic initiatives.

  • Process Improvement driver and presentation.

  • Other responsibilities as required.

  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, influencing, mentoring, coaching and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills.

  • Effective communication skills including demonstrated stand-up presentation skills, group facilitation and ability to effectively interact with customers.

  • Excellent people skills with ability to interact effectively in a team-based organization and with employees of all levels and backgrounds across all functions.

  • PC skills with demonstrated knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Teamcenter, NX capabilities strongly desired.

  • Ability to work individually and under minimal supervision to include a mixture of both remote and office environments leading distributed workforce.

  • The ability to effectively manage multiple and conflicting high-level business problems simultaneously under time constraints.

What We are Looking For:

    • Minimum of 10 years of engineering and engineering leadership experience
    • Experience with multi-site engineering management is a plus.
    • Material Handling Industry Experience strongly preferred.
    • Product Development Experience.
    • Controls technology exposure is a plus.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology, Advanced degree a plus
    • Travel up to 30% to the customer site, other Dematic offices or identified locations for meetings, training, and business needs.
