The Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health is currently seeking a Research Technician III who will participate in data collection for a new, large-scale research grant from the National Institutes of Health to examine the effectiveness and implementation of sleep health coaching in 20 fire agencies across Arizona. This person will administer self-report assessments, and devices. The individual also collaborates on the development and adaptation of agency-specific implementation protocols and maintains facilitation logs.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops, adapts, and refines procedures. Following a protocol, this person will collaborate on the development, adaptation, and refinement of agency-specific intervention implementation plans. This position will provide routine and technical administrative support consistent with these plans.
  • Data collection. This person will follow research protocols to administer self-report assessments and devices. They will maintain logs and records of data in an electronic data capture system.
  • Communicates with team members in Health Promotion Sciences, other departments, and external contacts. The research technician III trains students in research protocols and cross-trains on job functions with other research personnel to ensure adequate back-up. This position communicates with members of the fire service.
  • Technical assistance. The research technician III participates in the cleaning and scoring of study data and the preparation of technical reports and protocols. This position procures specialized devices (e.g., actigraphs, blood pressure monitors) for research operations and maintains inventory.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply attention to details and consistency, demonstrated by previous work or academic experience.
  • Able to establish and maintain positive working relationships and customer orientation with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team to assure project goals.
  • Ability to develop and maintain organizational systems.
  • Knowledge of human subjects research requirements.
  • Proficiency with REDCAP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Zoom.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
