Position Highlights

The Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Critical Care, Burns and Emergency Surgery seeks a Research Assistant to support the clinical research in trauma. This position will require evening and weekend availability.
We are looking for a candidate to serve as a clinical study Research Assistant for trials that will provide 24/7 direct observation and data collection to screen and enroll participants in hemorrhage control, resuscitation, spinal cord injury, surgical site infections, traumatic brain injury, etc. The Research Assistant will work closely with the manager to facilitate the trial by screening, recording interventions, obtaining labs, completing case report forms, assisting with query resolution, and interviewing and scheduling study participants for follow-up.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Screen study participants and evaluate potential participants to ensure they meet eligibility by communicating with the treatment team.
  • Explain trial to participant, consent, and enroll them into the study.
  • Work with Trauma Research Manager to schedule and/or coordinate the scheduling of required laboratory tests with the Banner lab.
  • Assess and follow patients through trauma, OR, IR, ICU through clinic visit, determining if protocol is being followed or other problems. Notify Trauma Research Manager if problems arise.
  • Complete case report forms for each study participant, and maintain and organize participant binders ensuring that consents are up-to-date.
  • Enter data from case report forms into electronic database.
  • Attend site visits, and various other duties or projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a clinical trial.
  • Conferred degree or working towards a degree in science or research.
