Job Summary:
The Department of Medicine (DOM) within the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Specialist to join the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine. This position is a major support of multiple federally funded studies in the research program. In the position, the successful candidate will complete complex processing and shipping of a variety of biological specimens (including blood, urine, sputum, & bronchial samples) precisely according to the protocols. This incumbent will order and maintain inventory of reagents and lab supplies. They will maintain laboratory equipment and oversee laboratory hygiene. The position may be responsible for other lab procedures, including but not limited to: running ELISA, DNA/RNA extraction, and qPCR. The successful candidate will work closely with other research specialists, scientists, nurses, and research coordinators. It is imperative that the Research Specialist be detail oriented, have excellent multi-tasking skills, and the ability to work both independently and within a team. The successful incumbent will have good interpersonal ability and communication skills. Responsibilities: Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision.
