OVPR) supports the research infrastructure and facilitates several
institutional research initiatives.
The postdoctoral position will be based in the Bioengineering Laboratory for Nanomedicine and Tissue Engineering at GW. The lab's research integrates a range of interdisciplinary technologies and advanced approaches in 3D/4D bioprinting, nanotechnology, smart materials, and stem cells for complex tissue/organ regeneration (such as cardiac and neural tissues), soft robotics, and various disease treatments.
The postdoctoral researcher will employ 3D/4D bioprinting, biomaterials, and stem cells, to fabricate complex bioprinted tissues and evaluate them
in vitro. Additionally, the researcher will design, organize, and conduct specialized and advanced research experiments using established scientific protocols and techniques, troubleshoot and design new protocols, summarize findings, publish results in research journals, and present at conferences, under the general supervision of a faculty member. The postdoctoral researcher will assume general responsibility for general scientific operations in the research group, and provide supervision and guidance to graduate, undergraduate students, trainees, and other researchers.
Examples of duties might include:
* Develop and characterize novel bioprinted cardiac tissues.
* Develop and contribute to new proposals and revision.
* Manage and analyze data, and publish journal papers, and conference abstracts.
* Manage several project tasks, collaboration relationships and interactions, and project personnel with strong time management and organizational skills.
* Train undergraduate and graduate students
* Collaborate effectively within a team. |
Minimum Qualifications |
Applicants must have fulfilled all requirements for the award of a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field by the date of employment. |
Desired Qualifications: |
* holds a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in biomedical sciences, materials science, chemistry, engineering or related fields;
* ideally has previous experience in cardiovascular research, stem cells, or 3D/4D bioprinting, which would be highly desirable. |
