Senior Metal Bellows continues to refine and develop welded metal bellows technology and the integration of welded metal bellows into critical aerospace, semiconductor, medical, defense, and industrial applications. Our 115,000 square-foot manufacturing facility is conveniently located on Route 1 in Sharon, Massachusetts.

Job Summary

Develop and manage strong relationships with suppliers to positively impact the organization's financial performance and operational efficiency. Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate complex and high-dollar proposals/quotes, and contracts. Evaluate key and strategic suppliers' performance to ensure quality and delivery requirements.

Job Functions



  • Review and analyze purchase requisitions for a variety of complex or technical materials, supplies and/or services, investigate and identify proper sources of supplies, prepare RFQ specifications, issue RFQ requests and review quotations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and other departments to identify requesting department's needs to develop and refine specifications for materials, supplies or equipment.
  • Review and analyze high-dollar quotes and negotiate pricing as well as other terms and conditions within scope of authority and ensure compliance with requisition requirements such as delivery scheduled, compliance and quality.
  • Initiate purchase order and implement and control specified terms.
  • Inform requisition initiator of any problems and concerns regarding compliance with requirements including but not limited to schedule, terms, quality. Suggest changes to resolve differences while maintaining integrity of requirements.
  • Fully understand purchasing procedures to departments and suppliers, across various material category and/or Product Family, which require strong technical knowledge.
  • Develop industry, product, and supply base knowledge, including key cost drivers Form strategic alliances with key suppliers to better understand their supply chain qualifications.
  • Responsible for overall relationship management for assigned suppliers and related day-to-day activities to ensure on-time delivery of compliant parts, meeting all SMB's quality requirements.
  • Conduct supplier site visits and evaluate them as to production capability, performance, delivery, supply chain qualifications and other key business criteria.
  • Support established inventory management systems such as kanban and safety stock to continuously meet production requirements.
  • Monitor the cost, schedule, and scope aspects of assigned high-value and complex contracts to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Manage continuous improvement programs with key suppliers. Work effectively to achieve established Department Cost Savings Goals and Objectives.
  • Develop alternate sources of supply for critical parts, applications and/or programs by identifying and evaluating prospective suppliers.
  • Support other team members by providing the necessary guidance and assistance when needed.
  • Negotiate and settle claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers. Support resolution of any associated Accounts Payable issues resulting from such claims or discrepancies.
  • Monitor and evaluate key supplier's ability to meet all company and government or commercial procurement requirements and ensure that the pertinent technical and quality issues receive adequate attention to assure compliance.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing trade publications, establishing networks, and/or participating in professional associations.
  • Other duties as required.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Highly proficient in negotiation and contract review
  • Experience working with Oracle or similar ERP system.
  • Proven Excel and analytical skills required.
  • Effective communication skills both written and oral.
  • Flexible, able to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
  • Must be analytical and detail orientated.



What Education and Qualifications are needed for the job?



  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing planning role
