Position Description: |
The University of Iowa School of Social Work seeks a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure Instructor of Practice to support practicum education for our growing BA and MSW programs. The position includes teaching, developing practicum placements (including placements in rural communities), supervising students in practicum placements, as well as providing student advising and mentoring. Candidates who reside in rural areas in Iowa will be considered for remote work. The position will begin as early as January 2025. The initial appointment is for one year (2025-2026), renewable for up to two years (2026-27 and 2027-28), and renewable thereafter in three-year increments, pending collegiate approval and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This track does not include the possibility of tenure, but otherwise parallels the tenure track with various ranks (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor of Practice). The School of Social Work offers BA, MSW, and PhD programs at the main campus in Iowa City, and distance education MSW programs around the state of Iowa (Des Moines, Sioux City and an online program). We are growing our programs at all levels. The School is also home to the National Resource Center for Family Centered Practice and the Iowa Consortium for Substance Use Research and Evaluation. Education Requirement: |
- Master of Social Work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited programin hand by start date
|
Required Qualifications: |
- Demonstrated record of at least 3 years, full-time, post-MSW practice experience
- Experience with practicum placements, as an instructor or field supervisor
- Demonstrated potential for teaching
- Demonstrated evidence of potential to contribute to departmental and collegiate service
|
Desirable Qualifications: |
- Current LMSW or LISW (or equivalent) social work licensure in current state of residence/employment
|
