Job Summary
Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants to fill a TES Animal Care/Weekend Nursery Worker position. The individual in this position will provide support to the Canine Performance Sciences department as related to animal care and husbandry.

This position will work 8-hour to 10-hour days on Saturday and Sunday between 6:30am and 4:00pm. More days will be added depending on Holiday Schedule.

Temporary Employment Services ( TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Seasonal work
  • Emergencies

AU students are not eligible for TES.
Essential Functions

  • Independently perform a variety of animal care husbandry duties like feeding, watering, grooming
  • Cleaning the nursery
  • Assist with animal treatments according to prescribed instruction
  • Updates health/treatment records
  • Maternal care of dams and neonatal care of puppies
  • Transport animals to appointments
  • May assist in canine whelping
  • May participate in canine exercise and enrichment activities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be 18 years old
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Be able to lift 50+ pounds
  • Have a current tetanus shot


*CANNOT WORK/VOLUNTEER WITH ANOTHER VET CLINIC/HUMANE SHELTER
Desired Qualifications

  • Previous canine kennel care and canine breeding
  • Previous canine breeding and whelping experience
