The Role
The Mission of the Field Service Controls & Automation Engineer is to program, commission, and install automated solutions developed by the Application Center North America. The Field Service Controls & Automation Engineer will work closely with our automation team during the concept and design phase of projects and act as a reference to provide feedback and experience from the field. The Field Service Controls & Automation Engineer will assist with programming and debug of the system while the project is assembled within our workshop. Upon completion, they will follow the project into the field and assist with installation and commissioning at the customer site.

To Succeed, You Will Need:
- Working closely with Automation project team (Project Management, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and design, production)
- Performing on-site field checks of existing equipment when required
- Threaded fastening/press theory and programming for Atlas Copco control systems
- Programming of PLCs and HMIs (i.e. Atlas Copco products, Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Test & Debug of products before shipment
- Program and debugof projects at the customers facility
- Ability to remotely support field installation technicians when required
- Understanding and applying customer's specifications/protocols and requirements
- Monitoring and working within project budgets and deadlines
- Approximately 50% travel required within the US
- Bachelors Degree in related Engineering field (Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics) or equivalent on-the-job experience (5+ years of experience)
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with cobot integration
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Working within project budgets and timelines.
- Experience with multiple controls architectures (Rockwell, Siemens, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic drawings
- Experience developing PLC logic and HMIs from scratch
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols and architecture
- Experience commissioning small automated cells into a customer's environment
- Understanding of machine safety standards
- Experience programming and integrating robots into light assembly cells
- Strong mechanical aptitude
