Overview

TRC is currently seeking an experienced Business Development professional to support the growth of TRC's Demand Side Management and Distributed Energy portfolio.

The successful candidate will work alongside the team to manage Sales and Business Development activities in the Central United States. The candidate will develop sales opportunities, coordinate early capture activities and assist in proposal preparation.

The candidate will act as primary customer contact for sales activities and develop new business opportunities. The successful candidate will have responsibility for developing a pipeline / sales funnel of opportunities in energy efficiency, demand response, distributed energy smart grid and utility operations - analytics.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in sales and business development, team leadership with a proven track record of successfully acquiring new customers and opportunities in the utility industry.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sales and business development tactics for utility customers to position TRC as preferred provider
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline / sales funnel of opportunities in energy efficiency, demand response, distributed energy smart grid and utility operations & analytics
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships and understanding of customer needs
  • Develop and deliver customer presentations and engagements that enhance and expand the TRC's position in the market
  • Attend professional conferences and trade shows to enhance TRC's position in the energy space
  • Identify, develop and maintain industry relationships with potential bid partners
  • Research and understand the utility markets in assigned region and apply knowledge to sales and bidding approach
  • Contribute to proposal development providing context and voice of customer
  • Achieve annual goals for number of new clients, revenue, and proposal wins

Qualifications

  • Bachelors' or master's degree in business, management, marketing, sales or related degree
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience solution selling in the energy industry
  • Knowledge of the utility ecosystem, Demand Side Management, Distributed Energy Resources
  • Successful experience developing and implementing strategic sales plans
  • Experience in energy efficiency, demand response, distributed energy smart grid and utility operations & analytics is required
  • Experience in commercial sales, marketing and business development -- with emphasis in the energy industry, including but not limited to energy efficiency, demand response, smart grid and utility analytics
  • Existing industry contacts and relationships
  • Knowledge of commercial sales cycles and contracting
  • Knowledge of utility regulation
  • Excellent written and verbal skills as well as advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications are also required
  • Confident, polished presentation skills are a must
  • Clear collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical groups, strong attention to details, superior organization skills
  • Professional experience in strategic planning, strategic project implementation and/or program management with a focus on delivering value to clients
  • The ability to shape successful cross-functional teams and motivate these teams to work seamlessly through capture and proposal efforts is required. This position will require travel

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
