About the Role:

As an Electrical Engineer in DEA's Energy Business Unit, you will work closely with other project engineers and project managers on project teams providing electrical engineering and technical knowledge. The position entails performing detailed design of distribution systems. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, sharing knowledge and leveraging each other's technical abilities. This position includes growth opportunities for professional advancement, leadership, and increased responsibility.

The location for this hybrid-friendly position is flexible with a preference for individuals who are based near one of DEA's offices in California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Texas, Utah, or Washington. Fully remote may be considered depending on circumstances. Some travel for project execution may be required.

Electrical Distribution Engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



  • Exemplify DEA's Cultural Drivers internally and externally
  • Engineer projects that will maintain and support various electrical utility systems by designing and creating detailed drawings, specifications and cost estimates for distribution systems.
  • Collaborate with team members in an open communication culture, providing support in various disciplines as needed.
  • Perform electrical system modeling and analysis. Prepare written reports and information related to analysis
  • Helps assure that designed electrical facilities meet NEC, NESC, RUS and Cooperative and Specific utility standards
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to project teams
  • Develop the project understanding, approach, and work plan
  • Manage communications among the project team and client
  • Maintain the technical quality of the work
  • Implement the project QA/QC plan
  • Some travel for project execution may be required



Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in civil/electrical engineering or construction management (or closely related field) OR 5+ years of applicable electric utility industry experience
  • Strong understanding of electrical distributions systems and construction
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Strong leadership, written and oral communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to make decisions with guidance in accordance with established policies and procedures and use initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Professional Engineer license (PE)
  • 5 or more years of experience in distribution line design
  • Competency in Spida Calc, Pole Foreman, O-Calc or other similar design programs
  • Engineering principles used in electrical utility system; RUS specifications and work order procedures; NESC and NEC regulations; legal descriptions, easements, and the permit application process; understanding of computer modeling of electric systems; essentials of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • familiar with industry-specific technology and terminology

Salary Range: $83,200 - $124,800 commensurate with qualifications and experience; will vary by location.
