JOB SUMMARY
The Sr Mgr, Liability Claims Management s position is responsible for administration of Charter's 3rd party liability claim program with a primary focus on Auto and General Liability claims. Responsibilities include reviewing claim related activity, formulating resolution strategy and resolving claims in cost effective manner. In addition, this position will be responsible for overseeing and coordination of internal staff of claims analysts, third-party claims administrators and legal (in-house and outside counsel) involved in claim resolution. This role is considered a subject matter expert in claims administration and resolution. |
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
- Provide consultation to the Liability Claims Leadership to develop, implement, communicate, and manage liability claims and programs
- Manage large complex claims through conclusioN; reports claims to the excess insurance carriers per the reporting requirements dictated in the insurance policy
- Continually evaluate the effectiveness of the Company's existing policies and procedures related to the reporting and handling of liability claims and seeking to incorporate 'best practices' for constant improvement
- Oversee the team of liability claims analysts and serve as a liaison between the TPA and company employees, legal counsel (both in-house and outside counsel) and occasionally law enforcement
- Oversee preparation of loss information and statistics for internal analysis; identify trends and issues, and offer recommendations to lower the overall claim costs, reduce the time of open claims, and reduce TPA costs, where possible
- Understand and manage the interactions between the claims team and other company organizations such as Safety, HR, Fleet and Legal to streamline claim recognition and reporting, ultimately leading to timely resolution of liability claims
- Ensure timely investigation of significant accidents involving the organization; oversee coordination between insurance companies, attorneys and TPA
- Review and analyze data to assist the Safety department to devise risk minimization programs
- Exercises sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for claim evaluation. When appropriate, communications evaluation and seeks authority to resolve

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
- Ability to analyze and interpret large volumes of data
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel, as well as with claimants, customers and attorneys
- Ability to work independently with no supervision and guidance
- Ability to manage caseload and assigned states
- Ability to hire and train a team of claim analysts responsible for companywide claims
- Ability to investigate and make liability determinations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality

- Knowledge of subrogation, litigation and general law
- Knowledge of office procedures and the operation of standard office equipment
- Knowledge of telecommunications industry
