Major Duties
Classification: Exempt, Non-Bargaining The Network Access Engineering Manager will be working in the Network Engineering Access organization. The Network Engineering Access team manages the following deployed network elements including but not limited to Fiber-To-The-Home, Metro-Ethernet, DSL, SHDSL, DC Power, DACS, TDM and SONET technologies. The successful incumbent will thrive on change but focus on the operational stability of the supported platforms. The candidate will need to be proficient of all aspects of M6 Database and inventory be very familiar with the former Verizon Tirks nomenclature.
Responsibilities
- SQL Reporting and Analysis for multiple organizations.
- Lead Consultant on new network templates, architecture and new product design.
- Team Lead for a footprint-wide Database Inventory Team covering multiple states, central offices, and remote locations.
- Author of numerous methods and procedures, guides, and technical documentation.
- Update, maintain and design new Equipment Specifications for Telecommunication Networks within the Database inventory (including Next Generation equipment, Ethernet/CES, Fiber Optics, SONET, and standard copper services).
- Knowledge in Telcordia/Ericsson TIRKS database to design and maintain network architecture and inventory.
- Primary contact for all Metasolv M6 Equipment Inventory management and maintenance.
- Training of new engineers and database team members.
- Produce engineering notes and configuration files for projects.
- Provides guidance and recommended solutions to complex technical issues.
- Ensures projects are fully integrated into the operations environment.
- Assist operation groups as needed during test and turn up of projects.
- Analyzes data and metrics, identifies problem areas, and provides actionable insight to management.
- Provides input to Engineering group and vendors on defects and required enhancements.
- Contributes to design considerations for new products or architectural changes to existing products.
- Assists with or leads efforts to build new application infrastructure, coordinating efforts across teams.
- Serves as lead as well as individual contributor on multiple projects and ability to effectively prioritize those projects so that due dates are met.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Consistent and punctual attendance.
Qualifications
- Metasolv, CCP and Tirks experience is mandatory
- Experience with DSLAM or CMTS technologies.
- Knowledge of ADSL, SHDSL, HDSL2/4 characteristics
- Knowledge of Ethernet technologies
- Knowledge of Sonet equipment including FLM150, FLM 2400, FLM 600, Flashwave 4500 etc.
- Knowledge of DACs and D4 channel banks
- Experience with TDM/VoIP technologies
- Good organization and computer skills
- Good documentation and communication skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics with 8-10 years' related experience including 5 years' managerial experience.
- 5+ years' experience in Metasolv inventory database and equipment inventory modules
- 5-7 years' telephony experience, including equipment engineering

Salary
Pay range (commensurate with skills and experience): $77,408 - $117,327
