Position Summary

The Indigenous Nations Library Program (INLP) has an opening for an entry level part-time Library Technical Assistant. We seek a student with introductory library experience and the ability to support INLP programs.

Library Assistants will work with University Library faculty, staff and other students in a small team environment to:



  • Support and help implement on-going INLP projects.
  • Assist with the delivery of specialized library services.
  • Assist student patrons with access to library resources including materials, reserves, study rooms, computers and printing.
  • Open and close INLP facilities and ensure the libraries remain a safe and comfortable destination for UNM students and faculty.


Applicants must be capable of working within a team environment. All UL&LS student employees are employed on a term basis for the current/impending school year. All library student employees must be able to manage collections, shelve materials and perform other physical activities as required. Please submit a resume and cover letter with your application.

  • 6 months or 1 semester of directly-related Library experience.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated oral, written and Interpersonal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively.
  • Working knowledge of Indigenous scholarship and resources.
