Position Summary
The state's Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Services, and Division of Health Benefits contracts with CIDD to coordinate the NCI project (https://www.nationalcoreindicators.org/). Each year, CIDD interviewers complete approximately 700 interviews of North Carolina residents with intellectual/ developmental disabilities, and this year will complete additional interviews with older adults and those with physical disabilities. The purpose of the interviews is to assess outcomes of services provided to individuals and families. Indicators address key areas of interest including employment, rights, service planning, community inclusion, choice, and health and safety.

Interviews will be completed remotely via Zoom or in person, starting in late September 2024. In-person interviewing will depend on COVID-19 conditions and preference of consumers being interviewed. For in-person interviewing, interviewers must provide their own transportation to interview sites, which may include individual homes, workplaces, or public facilities. Location and date/time of interview will be determined by the consumer and/or guardian, so may include evenings or weekends. The interviewer will be expected to independently conduct the standardized interview, record consumer responses and complete all required paperwork according to established protocol.

Interviewers are needed to complete interviews remotely using our HIPAA-compliant UNC Zoom account, as well as in person. Interviewers are especially needed in the following areas:

* Southwest mountains (including Murphy, Andrews, Franklin, Sylva, Waynesville, Hendersonville)
* Buncombe (Asheville), Madison, Henderson, Transylvania, Yancey, McDowell counties
* Mecklenburg (Charlotte) and all surrounding counties
* Cumberland (Fayettevile), Robeson, Harnett and Sampson, and surrounding counties
* Northeastern counties from Greenville and counties to the north and east (including Washington, Plymouth, Edenton, Elizabeth City, and Manteo)
* Northwest mountains (including Boone, Banner Elk, Newland, West Jefferson)
* New Hanover (Wilmington), Brunswick and Columbus counties
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
A four-year degree in a related discipline and one year of related training or experience, or a combination of training and experience, is required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Interviewers should have experience in the developmental, other disability, or aging field. Ideally, they should have knowledge of self-advocacy and have personal or professional experience that fits the tasks.
