Overview Description: The Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) helps to coordinate care for subjects participating in clinical research trials while following applicable regulations; Code of Federal Regulations Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and International Conference on Harmonization GCP guidelines; state regulations and departmental/institutional standard operating procedures. This includes, but is not limited to: coordinate/schedule patient appts, point of contact for patient questions/concerns, prepare study documents/needs for clinic visits, attend patient in office visits with providers, research billing reviews, data entry, and processing of research specimens. Who are we looking for: RN who is detail-oriented, motivated, able to multi-task, and flexible Hours: Generally M-F 8-4:30pm. Occasional evening or weekend. We do also have flexible work options including: flexing of time during the week, 4-10hr shifts, and/or WFH 1-day/week Location: Main Campus- Hem/Onc/BMT unit FTE: 1.0 Exempt The Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) Works with the study physician to ensure all patients involved in a clinical research trial are managed uneventfully, safely, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care and participation in the clinical research trial, ensuring patient care is not compromised while participating in the trial. Manages all elements of a clinical research trial in order to meet all protocol obligations while following applicable regulations; Code of Federal Regulations Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and International Conference on Harmonization GCP guidelines; state regulations and departmental/institutional standard operating procedures. Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care plan using Evidence-Based Practices in accordance with the requirements of the study protocol
Qualifications EDUCATION: BSN, Associates degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire. LICENSURE: Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio CERTIFICATIONS: 1. CPR; willing to obtain and maintain NRP and PALS certification as determined by management. 2. Certification by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals or Society of Clinical Research Administrators. SKILLS: 1. Demonstrated proficiency in clinical nursing skills, (i.e.: venipuncture, IV starts and injections); 2. Understanding of medical terminology, clinical trials preferred 3. Working knowledge of PCs, word processing, and data management software 4. Strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication 5. Goal-oriented; self-directive, initiation, self-motivation, creativity, flexibility 6. Excellent organizational, attention to detail and prioritization skills 7. Ability to actively participate as a team player MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Note frequency as Constantly (67-100%), Frequently (34-66%) and Occasionally (0-33%) for each requirement. Also note any lifting requirements with pound limit. Bending/twisting; squat/kneel; climb stairs or ladder; flexing/extending/reaching above shoulder; hand use; work-required driving, (additional testing may be required); lifting/carrying up to 61-100 lbs. or greater(with assistance); vision: depth perception/color vision/seeing near/far/interpreting data; Occasionally - 1-33% of the time Work Environment : My be exposed to the following occasionally, (1-33% of the time): Blood and/or Bodily Fluids; Communicable Diseases and/or Pathogens; Chemicals / Medications; Patient Equipment; Fumes / Gases / Vapors; Biohazard waste; Electricity; Loud Noises; Hot Temperatures; Cold Temperatures Walking/Standing; Problem Solving/Interpreting Data/Decision Making: Frequently - 34-66% of the time. Sitting/Repetitive hand/arm use/Computer skills; Audible speech & hearing acuity - Continuously - 67-100% of the time.
