Job Description

The University of Missouri's Division of Animal Sciences seeks applicants for the position of Livestock Education Coordinator. This individual will coach the livestock judging team and coordinate departmental youth activities that involve live animal evaluation including state 4-H and FFA livestock judging contests. Other responsibilities will include providing undergraduate advising and recruitment support, coordinating a livestock judging camp and representing the division at events such as the Missouri State Fair. This person will also serve as the supervisor of the Trowbridge Livestock Center, which includes coordination of University and stakeholder events within the Trowbridge livestock Center; Management of student labor including hiring and scheduling; Building management, on call for any issues during scheduled events and first contact for campus maintenance and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach and travel collegiate livestock judging team
  • Provide advising support to undergraduate students in the Division of Animal Sciences
  • Management of the Trowbridge Livestock Center, including scheduling, maintenance and supervision of student labor
  • Coordinate University and stakeholder events in Trowbridge Livestock Center
  • Support livestock evaluation activities at the Missouri State Fair
  • Support Divisional events related to undergraduate program recruiting
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Shift

8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Monday - Friday with flexibility for evening and weekend events/travel.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience as collegiate livestock judging participant or livestock judging coach is required.

Experience working in an academic advising environment

Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering youth level educational livestock activities

Demonstrated skills in public speaking

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875 - $70,000 Commensurate with experience.
