Department of Animal Sciences Job Description
The Telugu lab is seeking a candidate to work with a team of researchers in the Department of Animal and Avian Sciences. Incumbant will report to the Principal Investigator and a postdoctoral fellow to apply experience and expertise in projects focused on deleting or editing genes in the early embryo as a means for studying pregnancy specific disorders, developmental disorders and for developing animal models of human disease. Successful candiates will receive advance training in somatic and embryonic CRISPR/Cas genome editing, stem cell biology, somatic cell nuclear transfer, and in generating genome edited animals. Breakdown of effort are highlighted below: 30% Coordinating experiments and assisting postdoc with embryo preparation, embryo transfers/sample collection, histology, immunohistochemistry and other research needs. 30% Cell culture. Routine cell culture of edited fibroblast cells, stem cells, and screening of editing lines. 10% Molecular biology: assembly of DNA constructs, targeting constructs. 10% Preparing SOPs, maintaining stocks or inventories of research materials. 10% Husbandry of mice, swine and other research animals. 10% Assisting PI in protocol preparation and research management and oversight of research. Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Other hours as needed Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
B.S. in Reproductive Biology, Genetics, Animal Science or related disciplines. Experience/proficiency in basic molecular biology and cell culture skills is required. Although not required, experience or a strong interest in embryo culture, embryo injections and embryo transfers is preferred. The candidates are expected to be highly motivated, have critical thinking abilities, work as part of a team and more importantly willing to be trained in advanced reproductive technologies. Experience/proficiency in basic embryo biology is required. Knowledge in cell culture, basic molecular biology is desirable. Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range:$16.72 - $29.10/ hour. Salary for the position is commensurate with experience and number of years since completing the higher level of education.
