Organizational Unit Overview
The Department of Pediatrics at East Carolina University School of Medicine is the organizational unit. The primary purpose of the department is teaching, research and patient care in those issues involving the needs of children, with particular emphasis on the children of eastern North Carolina.
TEDI BEAR Children's Advocacy Center ( CAC) and Mt. Olive Children's Advocacy Center is in accord with this primary purpose and achieved by 1) providing comprehensive evaluation, intervention, and treatment, 2) providing education and training to professionals in the region, 3) ensuring interagency coordination and collaboration. The CACs serve abused and neglected children, by providing child medical evaluations; forensic interviews; child and family advocacy, therapy, and establishing and facilitating interagency case review teams. Prevention efforts include parent education, ACEs and resilience education, and networking child-serving agencies to promote trauma-informed services. Medical staff provide child abuse consults at ECUH in the Children's Hospital.
Job Duties
Program Administration/Project Management:
- Provide consultation for clinic operations and sustain exceptional, state-of-the-art services through advanced knowledge and understanding of core CAC disciplines
- Apply advanced knowledge to design, develop, and support educational and training projects for child abuse, resilience, adverse childhood experiences, and parenting education
- Ensure all programming areas remain compliant with 10 NCA and CACNC accreditation standards, ECU policies, CAC policies and procedures, and individual professional disciplines
- Build and promote strong partnerships with agencies responsible for the protection of children - Utilize multiple data platforms, standardized tools, surveys, and measurement systems
- Promote vision and mission, cultural competency, and fiscal sustainability in all programming
- Coordinate and facilitate efforts of the TEDI BEAR CAC Advisory Board and Mt. Olive Advancement Council

Fund Development and Financial Management:
- Sustain TEDI BEAR CAC and MT. Olive CAC through fiscal solvency
- Grant management - seek new funding, submit proposals, collaborate with sponsors, ensure grant compliance and expenditures, compliance with reporting, monitoring, and closeout
- Develop and monitor TEDI BEAR and Mt. Olive CAC budgets, approve all financial expenditures
- Ensure and maintain accurate and thorough timekeeping and financial records for grant compliance
- Expand philanthropy and donor base of individuals, foundations, and corporations

Personnel Management: *
- Direct supervision of 6 TEDI BEAR staff who provide TEDI BEAR CAC clinic management, Mt. Olive CAC coordination, multidisciplinary team coordination, community education, and medical coding

Quality Assurance:
- Ensure quality assurance and peer review activities generate program and process improvement
- Identify problems and initiate corrective action to best serve patients, staff, learners, MDT partners, and community agencies
- Utilize data platforms and design surveys and analyze QA results to improve programming

Advocacy and Outreach:
- Advocate at the local, regional, and state level with policy makers with ECU government liaisons
- Network with Children's Advocacy Centers of NC ( CACNC), National Children's Alliance ( NCA), Positive Childhood Alliance NC ( PCANC), North Carolina Child Treatment Program (NC- CTP), Child Medical Evaluation Program ( CMEP), Child First, and other CACs throughout the state to expand policies, improve services, and grow statewide supports for vulnerable children and their families

Hours of center operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Anticipated hire date is February 1, 2025.

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program ( ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System ( TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Disability.

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as its teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in the area of assignment, of which at least one is supervisory or in a lead-worker capacity; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Preferred Skills: budgeting, policy development

Preferred Knowledge: advanced understanding of the dynamics of child abuse and neglect; NCA accreditation standards for Children's Advocacy Centers

Preferred Experience: working within interdisciplinary systems responsible for child welfare and safety; fund development; grant writing and management
