The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states.

In this hybrid role you will report to the Technical Lead Manager of the team.

You Will:



  • Work with our creative team of people who will ensure that the behavior of our cars is safe, reliable, and comfortable in environments where inputs can be noisy, uncertain, or incomplete.
  • Contribute improvements to our technology for handling any kind of weather and degraded conditions that are scalable to different cities and scenarios.
  • Work on a bleeding edge project at the intersection of traditional robotics and modern ML techniques.


You Have:



  • BS in Computer Science, Robotics, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of experience building and evaluating ML-based systems
  • Experience with vehicle dynamics or a controls background
  • 3+ years of experience with Python for data analysis


We Prefer:



  • 3+ years experience programming in C++ with efficient code
  • Distributed software architecture skills
  • Experience working on a distributed team
  • Experience applying Machine Learning to create vehicle models, solve motion planning or related robotics problems

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process.

Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo's discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
