Position Summary |
The Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for direct patient care and clinical services to
UNC Asheville students. The Physician Assistant, will perform physical exams, diagnose and treat patients, obtain patient medical histories, order tests, plan treatments, and counsel patients.
The Physician Assistant will work alongside the Medical Director to treat a variety of illnesses and injuries in the
UNC Asheville population while promoting physical health and wellness of students while they are in pursuit of higher academic education and achievement. |

Required Education/Experience/Skills |
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. National Certification as a PA. Licensed to practice by the NC Board of Medical Examiners. Ongoing documented continuing education required. |
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills |
The successful candidate should be licensed to practice in N.C. and at least 1-year experience working with a college-age population. Strong consideration will be given to an individual with significant experience working in an Integrated Care Mode. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
- This position will possess the following skills and abilities: Considerable knowledge, of the theory, principles, and practices of general, preventative, and applicable specialty medicine
- Considerable knowledge of biological, social, and psychological process of patients served
- Thorough knowledge of development in the field of medicine.
- Considerable knowledge of state, organizational, and medical rules and regulations.
- Skill in treating and diagnosing a variety of diseases and injuries and in the practice applicable specialty of medicine.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Experience and training in working with an Integrated Care Model.
- Maintains appropriate professional certifications as required by the N.C. Medical Board.

- 1 Position - 0.8 FTE (32 Hours)/12 Months Per Year - Anticipated Hiring Range $75,000-$82.000
- 2 Positions - 0.5 FTE (20 Hours)/11 Months Per Year (July-May or Aug-June) - Anticipated Hiring Range $42,968-$46,979
