About the Department |
The Eroglu Lab at Plants for Human Health Institute is looking for a research technician. This lab technician's primary duties are to maintain mouse colon epithelial cells and run analytical chemistry experiments. This person will also prepare common lab supplies and chemicals for the extraction of retinoids, carotenoids, place orders, and be compliant with the safety protocols. |
Essential Job Duties |
The research technician will be capable of performing laboratory and investigative procedures by carrying out a variety of routine experimental techniques, including propagating cell lines and running biochemical experiments. Additionally, this person will handle chemical inventory and waste collection. Furthermore, this individual will collect, verify, record, and compile data as needed.
Duties will include:
- Oversee laboratory safety and ensure that the laboratory remains in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
- Ensure all reagents and supplies are available when needed
- Manage and update Chemical inventories
- Configure and operate laboratory instruments, read and record instrument data
- Conduct routine tests and procedures dictated by the research protocol
- Assist in the layout and maintenance of subject environment.
- Observe, monitor, collect, and record data to assess accuracy, validity, and integrity of data
- Organize and tabulate data; ensure quality control of data collection.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. |
Other Required Qualifications |
- Experience in running biochemical assays, chemical analysis of bioactive compounds, and using various experimental models
- Familiarity with creating and maintaining the Biological Use Authorization (BUA) forms, lab safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOP)s, and chemical inventory, as needed

Preferred Qualifications |
- Basic computer skills and previous laboratory experience is required
- Familiarity with basic molecular biology and sterile techniques is required
- Experience in cell culture and animal models is highly desirable
- High level of initiative, flexibility, motivation, and ability to work independently
