The Associate Clinical Therapist, working alongside a licensed professional, will assess and treat individuals with mental illnesses or substance abuse problems. Such services include individual and group therapy, outreach, crisis intervention, social rehabilitation and teaching skills for everyday living for patients of all ages (children, adolescents, adult and geriatric issues) in a behavioral health environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Master's Degree in related field 2. Temporary Social Work permit OR LGSW OR PLPC CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Provide psychosocial assessments of patients and families to identify emotional, social, and environmental strengths and problems related to their diagnosis, illness, treatment, and/or life situation. 2. Assist in creating a comprehensive psychosocial treatment plan utilizing appropriate clinical social work treatments and interventions. Interventions may include crisis intervention, brief and long-term individual, marital, family and/or group therapies as well as grief and bereavement work. 3. Screen, identify, diagnose, and assist in treatment of mental health and/or substance abuse problems in patients and family members. 4. Assist with screening, identification, diagnosis, management and treatment of victims of abuse, neglect, domestic violence, rape, etc. 5. Maintain a working knowledge of relevant medical/legal issues that affect patient care, e.g., advance directives, child and elder abuse 6. Provide education to patients and families around issues related to adaptation to the patient's diagnosis, illness, treatment and/or life situation. 7. Participate in multi-disciplinary health care teams. 8. Maintain working knowledge of and liaison with community agencies and resources. 9. Knowledge of hospital, medical center and/or health system resources to access and provide for patient care needs. 10. Document assessment, plan, interactions, and interventions according to departmental, hospital and/or health system guidelines and standards. 11. Attend and participate in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings. 12. Keep current with social work and health care developments and seek to increase further enhancement of job related knowledge.
