We're hiring for a Tax Manager - Consumer Productsfor our New York City office. Consumer ProductsTax Practice focuses on tax business planning, advisory & compliance services for closely held business groups within the consumer products industry. The group also advises in multi-generational wealth planning with a heavy concentration in closely held entities and individual returns.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates thorough technical knowledge of accounting standards and reporting standards in researching, completing, and reviewing technical areas.
  • Identifies tax risk management issues and proposes potential solutions through research and collaboration with Engagement Partner
  • Reviews tax procedures, engagement workpapers and financial statements without supervision
  • Completes thorough review of tax workpapers on a timely basis and assures audit evidence is in accordance with firm's documentation standards
  • Addresses questions on advanced technical accounting matters from team members and upper-level client management
  • Prepares advanced level tax returns and reviews intermediate to advanced level tax returns
  • Monitors that tasks are assigned and completed on a timely basis and reviews workflow
  • Oversees Seniors and Staff while coordinating the day-to-day duties of planning, tax work, and wrap-up
  • Manages multiple assignments inside an engagement
  • Communicates with Partners on work status and client issues that arise
  • Conducts research, consults with team members, draws conclusions, and prepares memos based on target issues
  • Contains advanced knowledge of applicable accounting software (e.g. CCH Axcess, Engagement, GoFielRoom, etc.)
  • Leads small to medium sized engagements with finalized document and report requiring minimal change upon review
  • Performs top review of returns, workpapers, and issues
  • Acts as primary client contact and liaison for complex issues that staff are unable to resolve; communicates effectively with clients and develop positive relationships with client personnel
  • Supervises, trains and mentors tax staff
  • Stays current on technical and industry developments and standards while evaluating potential impacts on their client engagements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a preference of study in Accounting or related field
  • 5+ years' of relevant work and industry experience
  • Prior experience managing engagements and clients
  • Ability to work independently, but also work well with others
  • Enrolled Agent designation
  • Strong technical and broad based advisory and client management skills
  • Formal mentoring relationships with all levels of staff

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation
  • Licensed CPA or admission to a State Bar
  • Become a leader in a tax niche

    • BNA
    • Microsoft Office 365

Compensation Range

Salary: $145,000.00 - $175,000.00
