What your job will be like:
Designs moderately complex electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment, structures, components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve performance and facilitate operations. Utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) applications and/or graphic design tools to generate layouts and designs of cryogenic equipment. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposals. Coordinates design criteria with engineers, physicists, and other customers as appropriate.

In this role you will:


  • Create and modify equipment designs for installations at JLab and other government supported laboratories / agencies.
  • System layout and detailed design of beamlines, magnets, diagnostics, SRF cryomodules and components, vacuum and cryogenic piping according to ASME codes and engineering requirements.
  • Produce accurate, simple and cost effective fabrication documentation (3D modeling, assembly and orthogonal drawings) using NX/Teamcenter and AutoCAD.
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and tolerance stack-up analysis per ASME standards.
  • Candidate will work directly with engineers and other designers as a team member and must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing.
  • Turn concepts and ideas into working assemblies and systems with independent thinking.
  • Support activities that communicate drawing requirements and resolve drawing issues with other functional departments.

  • High School Diploma

Experience


  • 5 years Relevant Experience required (additional education may be substituted for Work Experience)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Able to identify schedule conflicts within the group and provide solutions.
  • Demonstrates intermediate skills, knowledge and ability in one technology trade or specialty.
  • Knowledge of theory, design, and techniques used at component level.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in completing assignments.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprint drawings, component specifications, and technical data sheets.
