ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an onsite internship in Houston, TX for Summer 2025.

The Engineering Technical Services Intern at Cornerstone Building Brands is responsible for manufacturing operations detailed layouts and planning in preparation for installation and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across the network of locations. Reporting directly to the Engineering Technical Services Project Coordinator, this role supports change management processes for projects that contribute to the company's growth and improvements in efficiencies with manufacturing technologies. ETS has responsibility over manufacturing engineering processes across all of Shelter Division. The Shelter Business Unit has 83 manufacturing and distribution locations that includes one of the largest private truck fleets in the US. Shelter designs and manufactures metal buildings and metal buildings components serving the Pre-Engineered Metal Building Industry since 1927.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Partner with manufacturing and engineering technical services to

  • Leverage CAD to create detailed layouts of future manufacturing equipment installations that leverage painted galvalume light gauge steel coils to manufacture through slitting, roll forming, and folding operations.
  • Identify challenges with space or layout options that need to be addressed for successful equipment installations to deliver desired outcomes.
  • Oversee and manage change management processes for the installation and commissioning of equipment.
  • Establish and maintain schedules for business planning for new capacities to be yielded from equipment installations.
Qualifications

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Pursuing bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • An interest in machines and how they work is preferred
  • Experience with CAD required
  • Experience with layout development preferred
  • Experience in project management preferred
