Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Plate 'B' coats parts and/or raw material both ferrous and non-ferrous, with various
chemical solutions as required to maintain specified tolerances.

DESCRIPTION OF
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

With moderate
supervision and review performs the following:

  1. Identifies material and processes to be performed from job order or other written instructions.
  2. Responsible for cleaning, plating, drying, baking, chromate treating and lubricating the product.
  3. Run copper strip line, passivate line and titanium line as required.
  4. Determines time and sequence and sets up applicable equipment accordingly.
  5. Maintain all plating, lubrication and cleaning baths. Perform solution analysis and makes appropriate adjustments to maintain proper solution mix. Makes up new solutions per written instructions.
  6. Operates all auxiliary equipment pertaining to plating operations such as forklifl, overhead crane, parts washer, tumble barrel, salt cleaner, centrifugal dryer etc.,
  7. Maintains simple records pertaining to operations, such as baking time, solution analysis, and work logs.
  8. Responsible for daily maintenance of equipment. May effect minor repairs.
  9. Checks product for plating requirements using electronic gages. Calibrates gages for plate thickness
  10. Works as an active team
    member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team
    activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of cell
    operations. Uses interpersonal skills as well as good written and verbal
    communications. Assists other cell members as required.

Equipment/Process Responsibilities - Performs duties
where property, tools, equipment or machines may suffer substantial damage or
man-hours be lost, through improper daily maintenance or lack of considerable
care and attention to processing. Sets-up and operates all plating equipment
and maintains complex solution
mixes.

Material or Product Responsibilities - Performs duties
that require close attention to work and supporting documentation specifications and other requirements.
Responsible for accuracy of plated material or parts released for use in production.
Uses knowledge of plating procedures and methods to assure highest quality and degree of
accuracy.

Responsibility for Work of Others - Accuracy of
communications is mandatory to the successful plating of materials and parts. Must
communicate to appropriate personnel any problems or concerns regarding quality of
work received or time flow of work in progress as it affects production
schedules. Must be able to train employees of equal or lower classifications in
plating methods,
operations and procedures as required in the cell. Works with all levels of non-exempt
employees, leadpersons, facilitators and supervisors throughout the shop.

Safety Responsibilities - Within general work
area and for the safety of self and co-workers in major portion of the shop,
good housekeeping is required. Knowledge of chemical safety and adherence to Company
safety rules is mandatory.
Initiative and Ingenuity - Requires some
initiative in identifying complex problems related to the plating requirements
of various metals. Uses ingenuity in devising procedures to assure best efficiency
of work flow. Takes on or reports for additional work as current tasks are
completed. Performs other work related tasks as deemed necessary by Company needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental Surroundings - Work is in a
machine shop environment where noise, temperature fluctuations, the repetitive nature
of the job, etc. are less desirable
than in a typical office environment.

Unavoidable Hazards - Possible hazards related to cuts,
bruises, finger and hand injuries, muscle strains, burns, chemical exposure,
noxious fumes, and nasal and eye irritation. Protective equipment and clothing appropriate
to the task at hand is
required.

EFFORT

Physical - Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Requires hand
and finger manipulation to use precision measuring instruments. Able to use all
tools required for plating in the cell. Some job assignments require maneuvering to
different areas of the cell and most assignments necessitate continuous standing for the
majority of the workday.

Mental - Work at times is highly repetitive and
monotonous. However, plating assignments are varied according to the parts and
materials involved. Some initiative is required in assuring proper solutions mix
and ingenuity is needed to maintain critical timing of several job assignments
concurrently. Reasoning ability required to
interpret blueprints, drawings or other specifications of a complex nature and
draw conclusions from a variety of concrete variables. Able to organize workflow
under moderate supervision or review.

Visual - Close attention to detail with moderate
eye concentration. Able to read all precision measuring instruments in the cell
as required by essential job functions. Must be able to visually check parts
for quality. Requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, distance
vision and depth perception

Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING

Demonstrated ability to read and write English of a level required in Company shop documents and computer software entry and processing requirements. Must be capable of applying mathematical operations including the use of fractions and decimals to exacting tolerances ( .0001) as required by plating procedures. Generally equivalent to 9th grade level.

EXPERIENCE

Requires 2 years experience, or equivalent skills and knowledge, in
plating operations
and the use of tools and equipment such as forklift, overhead crane, parts washer, tumble
barrel, salt cleaner, centrifigul dryer etc., similar or comparable to those
used by the Company. Advanced knowledge
of chemistry and metallurgy as applied to plating operations. Must read
precision measuring instruments such as various gauges, meters, calipers and
micrometers as well as blueprints and other documentation similar or
comparable to those used by the
Company.

The pay scale for
this position ranges from $22.07 - $27.33 (Depending on experience).
