Job Summary:

Dr. Rinad Beidas' implementation science team in the Department of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks an experienced full-time Project Manager to join our leadership team which oversees our diverse portfolio of research projects aimed at closing the "know-do gaps" in healthcare delivery, with a focus on improving equitable and high-quality healthcare through implementation science. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects in our portfolio, each centered on the implementation of evidence-based practices across the lifespan in diverse settings (e.g., primary care clinics, specialty clinics, community health centers) and disease areas, including mental health, firearm injury prevention, HIV, cancer, and cardiovascular disease.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a Project Manager to join our leadership team. Responsibilities include overseeing and managing the execution of research projects, including ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements; handling regulatory procedures, including submissions to CT.gov; progress reports to the NIH and managing IRB protocols; monitoring project progress identifying and addressing potential issues, and implementing corrective actions as necessary. The Project Manager will prepare and present regular updates on project status, findings, and outcomes to internal teams and vested partners. We seek someone who can help design and implement standard processes across multiple projects to ensure rigorous study conduct within regulatory parameters. The Project Manager must have experience with randomized controlled trials and ensuring high standards of research integrity and compliance.

In this role, they will supervise and provide oversight to at least two staff (e.g., project manager, clinical research coordinator). This includes but is not limited to: providing guidance and supervision to research staff on how best to prepare and implement research activities, operationalize and adapt research methods, collect and manage data, and appropriately report progress and achieved benchmarks. Additionally, the project manager's supervision of our full-time staff will involve overseeing the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff on an ongoing basis. The Project Manager will also work with colleagues across our team including faculty, post- and pre-doctoral fellows, and staff.

The Project Manager must have impeccable organization, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills as well as extremely strong attention to details. They must be able to work independently and exhibit good judgement. They must also exhibit strong experience and skill related to communicating with and recruiting research study participants. All applicants must be able to demonstrate familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and web-based applications. Working knowledge of REDCap is encouraged. This position would be ideal for individuals with an MPH, MHA, MA or PhD. Individuals with a BA/BS will be considered if they have appropriate experience and expertise.

This is a hybrid work position, and the Project Manager will be expected to work in the office at least three days per week consistent with current team expectations.

Specific Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Interacts with project leadership to determine and document project objectives, scope, functional requirements, metrics, key performance indicators and stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with technical lead to determine resource requirements, budget, and deliverables

Administration

  • Coordinates projects for selected clients; administers and maintains project management tools, assists in planning, estimating and scheduling project work and supports monitoring and reporting of project progress.
  • Tracks initiation and execution of software development or implementation and upgrade of several concurrent projects.
  • Writes reports and proposals.
  • Communicates project status, decisions, updates, revisions and changes to all stakeholders facilitating decision-making and project progress.
  • Administers and maintains organizational area's project management tool, assists in planning, estimating and scheduling project work and supports monitoring and reporting of project progress

Performance

  • Collaborates with the functional teams to construct, update and track multiple project schedules and facilitates issue identification and resolution.

Supervises

  • Provides work direction for project team members, subordinates, contractors, vendors, students, etc.
  • Leads regulatory and compliance related responsibilities for scientific projects

  • Experience drafting and submitting and ongoing submission and modifications of IRB protocols

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Implementation Science and Applied Translational Research.
  • Experience managing multi-site, large-scale NIH-funded projects is strongly preferred.
  • Extensive experience communicating with and recruiting patients and other research study participants.
